At the heart of Love for Hope Ministry (LFHM) is our mandate: “To go all over the world and tell God’s people to go and preach the good news.”
How We Achieve Our Mandate
As a faith and child-centered organization, we achieve this through Evangelism & Discipleship. Evangelism introduces children to a loving Creator, affirming that they were created with a purpose. This foundational belief is crucial for understanding one’s value, identity and God-given potential.
Building on this, our discipleship nurtures children to reach their full potential in God, empowering them to become agents of positive change within their spheres of influence. After undergoing transformation, they are equipped to step out into the world and share the good news of a loving God who transformed their lives and is ready to do the same for anyone willing to embrace Him.
Our Programs
Our programs are designed to identify, nurture, and promote the gifts/talents, and academic abilities of these children through a focused process of Evangelism and discipleship. As a result, transformed children who are now mature, productive, and responsible members of society can testify (action & words) about God’s work in their lives across various spheres of influence, such as music, arts, sports, business etc. This approach not only fulfills our mandate to spread the gospel all over the world but also leverages each child’s unique abilities and platforms.
Background and Need
The Need
Rwanda is a nation on a journey of recovery from its historical hardships, and today it faces contemporary challenges such as poverty and strengthening community cohesion. Many children in this setting grow up in environments marked by these socio-economic obstacles, compounded by limited access to quality education and insufficient moral guidance. These factors significantly hinder their ability to develop into well-rounded individuals capable of contributing positively to society. Furthermore, the lingering scars of Rwanda’s past conflicts necessitate programs that do more than educate; they must also heal and unite communities, fostering a resilient generation that can thrive and lead the nation forward.
Previous Solutions
Historically, various initiatives have aimed to address these challenges in Rwanda. Programs focusing on education reform, economic empowerment, and community reconciliation have been implemented to help alleviate poverty and improve social cohesion. Non-governmental organizations and international aid have played significant roles in these efforts, providing resources and support to rebuild and strengthen community structures. Educational programs have expanded access to quality education, while economic initiatives have sought to create job opportunities and
stimulate local economies. However, while these efforts have made significant progress, gaps remain in addressing the deep-rooted social and spiritual needs of the Rwandan children.
Addressing the Need through Evangelism and Discipleship
We believe that faith in Christ is foundational to true transformation. Therefore, Love for Hope incorporates the biblical perspective in all its initiatives and programs designed to achieve a child’s holistic development. By integrating evangelism and discipleship, our approach aims to nurture not only the intellectual and physical capabilities of Rwandan children but also their spiritual well-being. This holistic strategy helps children understand their value and identity in Christ, empowering them to become leaders who can positively impact their communities. Through our focused efforts in evangelism and discipleship, we aim to complement existing initiatives by filling the spiritual gap, thereby fostering a comprehensive and resilient developmental environment for the children of Rwanda.
Key Focus Areas & Objectives
Evangelism outreach
Objective:
Broaden the reach of our evangelism efforts both in our community and nationwide.
Implementation:
Sports & Games:
We utilize football as a tool to attract and interact with beneficiaries, understanding their core problems and presenting the gospel.
MDD:
Serves as a platform to educate, inspire, and engage our beneficiaries, facilitating dialogue on relevant social issues while introducing the gospel.
This include music, dance, drama and fashion modeling to attract numerous youths, helping us build relationships and understand their challenges, which in turn allows us to present tailored gospel messages.
Discipleship Programs
Objective: Strengthen and diversify discipleship programs to cater for various demographic and cultural backgrounds.
Implementation:
Bible Study:Children participate in activities like bible verse recitation, watching Christian movies, playing games, and singing, which supports cognitive development and spiritual growth. These sessions also help identify and nurture talents while providing comfort and tailored solutions to personal challenges.
Training Material:We’ve adopted and customized discipleship training materials, selecting content appropriate for different ages and levels of spiritual maturity, to enhance the effectiveness of our ministry.
Community Engagement & Service
Objective: Integrate evangelism and discipleship with community service initiatives seamlessly.
Implementation:
Community Support: We organize community support activities where we help vulnerable families e.g. construction of toilets and house repairs, parent -teacher meetings where we incorporate the biblical perspective, farming training for malnutrition and income generating, basic needs supply like sugar & soap, health insurance
Training and Equipping Leaders:
Objective: Develop a comprehensive training program for leaders and volunteers focused on effective evangelism and discipleship.
Implementation:
We organize training sessions, workshops, and seminars to develop leadership skills, providing resources and support for continuous learning and spiritual growth.
Our approach to evangelism and discipleship is both comprehensive and deeply integrated into the community, ensuring that our efforts lead to substantial and sustainable impacts. This structured strategy aligns with our core mandate to “go all over the world and preach the good news,” enabling us to effectively spread the gospel and engage meaningfully with God’s people.
Our achievements;
Love for Hope Ministry has witnessed the following achievement through our initiatives. Here are some notable successes:
Youth Engagement and Talent Development through Sports: Our Sports Evangelism initiative has effectively engaged over 9,000 children across 9 schools and an additional 5,000 children from 30 football centers within the community through various school programs and local leagues. This comprehensive approach has not only led to over 4,000 children and adults dedicating their lives to Christ in the last year but has also significantly nurtured soccer talent. Several participants have advanced to join prestigious local academies and football clubs in Rwanda, enhancing their skills and providing new opportunities for growth and development. This dual focus on spiritual growth and skill enhancement significantly improves their well-being and economic status, making a lasting impact on their lives, families and the community.
MDD: Through our theater drama shows and collaborative efforts with organizations like the British Council, we have launched filmmaking programs that have successfully equipped over 80 participants with filmmaking skills, as evidenced by their achievement of certificates in this field. Many of these participants have utilized these new skills to forge successful careers in filmmaking, significantly enhancing their professional opportunities.
