Empowering Children and Youth Through Sports.
We utilize sports as a tool to engage and connect with children and youth, drawing them away from street life into activities that offer both personal growth and character development.Through this program, we are also able to identify, nurture and promote their talents, creating opportunities that can enhance their financial well-being and benefit their families and community.
Our sports activities currently include football and chessgames as well as the LFH Football academy, where the most talented players are being prepared to be professional players.
Additionally, to cater for the wide sports interests of these children and youth, we are constructing a basketball court and volleyball facilities to expand our offerings.
Football
Our football activity focuses on talent development, child rights sensitization, and character building. We run 82 football groups for boys and girls in various age groups (U13, U15, U17) across three districts,10 schools and 20 football centers. Through our football activities, we tackle school dropout issues and aim to reintegrate street-involved children and youth into educational settings. These partnerships have enabled us to identify and assist over 1,000 school dropouts with necessary scholastic and feeding support.Additionally, our teams have achieved significant success, winning over 7 tournaments in the past three years.
Chess
We run a chess club at our center in Musanze that has grown to serve multiple districts in the Northern province,selecting 3 schools per district, targeting children from single-mother and slum backgrounds. Each participating school received five chess boards for 30 children, along with comprehensive training in chess principles. This initiative enhances critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and teamwork among the children.In 2022, our club participated in a tournament in Uganda, hosted by the SOM Chess Academy in collaboration with Sport Outreach Uganda.Looking ahead, we plan to introduce 3 chess groups in 3 schools and 1 at our LFH Center in Bugesera.
Football academy
As part of our talent development and promotion efforts, we have the LFH Football Academy, where we prepare the most talented players to become professionals. This initiative will not only improve the financial situations of the players themselves but also benefit their families and communities. Additionally, it contributes to boosting exports and enhancing overall economic growth.
Our achievements include placing players in prestigious international football clubs such as PSG and earning recognition as one of the top 5 football centers in Rwanda for nurturing young talent at the grassroot level.
Basketball and Volleyball
To cater for the wide sports interests of these children and youth, we are also constructing a basketball court and volleyball facilities to expand our offerings.
Through this, we shall be able to reach and impact more children and youth of Rwanda.
